NEW PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE PROSPECTIVE HOME BUYERS DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA –  Plaquemines Parish Government has partnered with the Jefferson Parish Finance Authority to make down payment and closing cost assistance available to qualified homebuyers in Plaquemines Parish.

Established in 1979 by the Jefferson Parish Council, the Jefferson Parish Finance Authority (JPFA) works to provide financial assistance to Jefferson Parish residents and the surrounding parishes for homeownership thereby enhancing economic development.  The JPFA programs provide down payment and/or closing cost assistance for a 30-year fixed-rate, fully amortizing mortgages for residents of Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Bernard, St. Charles Parishes, and now Plaquemines Parish.

“The Jefferson Parish Finance Authority Assistance Programs have been successful in other parishes, and we wanted to bring it to Plaquemines Parish to help hardworking individuals and families achieve the American Dream of homeownership,” Parish President, Kirk Lepine expressed “It is an opportunity for people to get into a home who would otherwise be unable to enter the real estate market.”

Residents of Plaquemines Parish may apply for up to 5% of the total loan amount in down payment and/or closing cost assistance.  These programs offer Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Administration (VA), Rural Development (RD), Fannie Mae HFA Preferred or Freddie Mac HFA Advantage loans to qualified individuals with a maximum borrower income of $98,560.  The programs are not limited to first-time homebuyers and participants must have a minimum credit score of 640.

The program is set to begin resident engagement in mid-August 2021.  Please visit www.jpfinanceauthority.com for more information.
