PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA – Plaquemines Parish President Kirk Lepine presented the Parish Council with the Parish’s 2021 Original Proposed Budget during last week’s, October 22nd, council meeting. The budget was presented as balanced with revenues and expenditures totaling approximately $33,000,000 in the General Fund.
The estimated operating revenues for the proposed budget have declined by $12,297,595 from the previous year forcing the administration to eliminate parish departments and community services grants in order to present a balanced budget required by law.
The Parish Council has approved budget hearings to take place over a three-day period starting Monday, November 16 lasting thru Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at the Belle Chasse Council Chambers. During the hearings, the Parish Council will review and amend the proposed budget. The Parish Council has the authority to review and restore some eliminations and cuts by reducing available fund balances. However, depleted fund balances will hinder PPG’s ability to respond to disasters and infrastructure needs
The 2021 Proposed Budget will be available for public viewing in Parish Libraries starting Monday, October 26th thru Wednesday, October 28th, and on the Parish’s website.
