PLAQUEMINES PARISH COMMUNITY ACTION PROVIDES EMERGENCY RENT, MORTGAGE AND UTILITY ASSISTANCE TO ELIGIBLE RESIDENTS
PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA – The Plaquemines Parish Community Action Agency is offering rental, mortgage, and utility assistance to eligible residents throughout Plaquemines Parish who are facing hardships due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.
Plaquemines Parish Community Action Agency received grants from the Low Income Home Energy (LIHEAP) to provide emergency utility assistance, Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EF&SP) to provide emergency utility assistance and from the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) to provide emergency utility assistance and rent/mortgage assistance.
Residents must meet eligibility requirements as established by the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EF&SP) and the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Applicants should not apply for both CSBG and EF&SP as they can only qualify for one of these programs. In addition to available rental/mortgage assistance, applicants can also apply to receive utility assistance through LIHEAP. All programs will be available for a set amount of time or until funds have been expended.
Plaquemines Parish Community Action Agency will begin scheduling appointments on August 24, 2020. In order to qualify for assistance applicants must be parish residents, meet the income guidelines, and bills must be in the rear. Supporting documents should be taken to the Community Action Agency on your scheduled appointment date.
Applications will be taken Monday through Thursday, 9:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. by appointments only at the Plaquemines Parish Community Action Agency Office at 479 F. Edward Hebert Boulevard, Belle Chasse, Louisiana. Please contact the Community Action Agency’s Office at (504) 934-6940 to schedule an appointment or if you need additional information.
