Louisiana has a semitropical climate. Plaquemines Parish temperatures vary from season to season, but are typically warm. January is the coldest month, with averages lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s. The warmest months are July and August, with average lows in the 70s and highs in the 90s. October through December are the "pretty months," when temperatures range from the 60s at night to 70s during the day.

Plaquemines Parish can be very wet, with an average yearly rainfall of about 55-60 inches. During the summer months, expect the daily rumble of thunder in the afternoons. Hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30, and Plaquemines Parish does occasionally have threats from tropical systems, including hurricanes.
