What You Need to Know— Plaquemines Parish Recreation Millage
“Great Parks need Great People” has never been truer than during this year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our recreation department has been slated for elimination in 2021 but was refunded with one-time funding. Plaquemines stands alone among its peers as the only regional parish without a dedicated source of funding for our recreation dept.
The department is responsible for the maintenance of over 15 parks and 40 other parish properties.
Without the millage, Plaquemines Parish is facing the elimination of all youth sports programs for the parish. A large portion of our youth depends on these programs as their only source of recreation
The 1 mil will raise about 900,000 dollars and pay for salaries, equipment, park maintenance, and operation.
