Purpose
The Plaquemines Parish Fire department is a combination department that has a mixture between career on-duty personnel and volunteers that dedicate their time to the departments whenever possible.

Mission Statement & Responsibilities
The mission of the Plaquemines Parish Fire Department (PPFD) is to assist the seven Volunteer Fire Departments within Plaquemines Parish in protecting lives and property through the prevention and/or mitigation of fires and emergencies. This mission will be accomplished through a variety of programs that are hereby established. These programs are established with life safety, property conservation, and cost-effectiveness in mind.
PPFD is responsible for:
- Emergency management
- Emergency medical services
- Fire and life safety programs
- Fire suppression
- Rescue operations
Career Staff Organization
The Plaquemines Parish Fire Department is made up of two divisions: administration and fire / emergency operations. Each day the fire department currently maintains on-duty staffing for all seven fire districts:
- 1 Chief Vehicle
- 14 Engines
- 2 Captain Vehicles
- 5 Ambulances
- 6 Rescue Trucks
