Plaquemines Parish Tropical Storm Harvey Update
The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Northern Plaquemines Parish.
Remember to operate your vehicle with caution. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Please report flooding to the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office when you can do so safely.
In response to the expected sustained rainfall, pump stations throughout the parish will be fully staffed around the clock to protect our citizens and their property. The ferries in Belle Chasse and Pointe-a-la-Hache will continue to operate. Parish crews will continue providing regular services to the public.
