Plaquemines Parish Tropical Storm Harvey Update
(NEW SANDBAG LOCATIONS)
According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Harvey is turning to the northeast and is expected to approach the southwest Louisiana coast overnight tonight and then central Louisiana late Wednesday evening. Only slight strengthening expected due to limited time over the water. Tropical Storm Watch/Warnings in effect from Grand Isle westward for winds of up to 45 mph. Even though Harvey is expect to move a tad further east due to it taking on different characteristics the impacts are not expected to change much at this time.
Pumping stations throughout the parish will be fully staffed around the clock to protect our citizens and their property. The Ferries in Belle Chasse and Pointe-a-la-Hache will continue to operate. Parish crews will continue providing regular services to the public.
Sandbags are being offered to residents at the following locations until 8:00 p.m.:

- Plaquemines Parish Government Building 8056 Hwy. 23
- Percy Griffin Community Center 5577 Highway 15 Davant, LA 70040
- Empire Shipyard 284 Rose Marie Rd. Empire, LA
(Limit of 10 sandbags per resident, Must present a valid Louisiana ID)
Citizens are asked to help reduce the risk of street flooding by clearing debris from their catch basins and streets near their property. We also ask that you secure your garbage cans. Any questions may be directed to the Plaquemines Parish Emergency Operations Center
