LA SAFE Parishwide Meeting
LA SAFE will host a parishwide meeting on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Port Sulphur Community Center. The parishwide meeting will allow residents to begin the process of drafting adaptation strategies using ideas and concerns voiced by residents’ ideas in previous LA SAFE meetings. These adaptations strategies will lead to at least one project, program or policy that will be funded through LA SAFE — a planning initiative coordinated by the Louisiana Office of Community Development’s (OCD) Disaster Recovery Unit, in partnership with Foundation for Louisiana’s Coastal Resilience Leverage Fund.
Some of the main themes that Plaquemines Parish residents discussed in previous LA SAFE meetings included the following:
Seafood industry’s uncertain future
High cost of living
Importance of promoting culture and tourism
Enhanced transportation services
