To protect, promote and advance the health and safety of our parish community by:
-Providing immunizations and immunization records to all age groups within our community
-Providing assistance and referrals to those seeking information on community outbreaks, Tuberculosis, Family Planning, Sexually Transmitted Disease, and other disease
-Providing assistance and information to those who need medical transport and other medical needs during a natural disaster or an emergency event
-Work with community partners to identify needs within the community involving social violence, substance abuse, elder abuse, and mental illness, etc.
These services are available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 pm. Please call the public health nurse to schedule an appointment for any of the following:
- Certified Immunization Records
- Condom Distribution
- Information concerning disease outbreaks, STD’s, Family Planning and abuse
- Evacuation Assistance/medical needs during an emergent event. Below is the Parish’s announcement on patients seeking medical assistance during an evacuation:
“We urge all individuals who have been diagnosed with conditions needing special medical attention, such as; insulin therapy, oxygen therapy, dialysis, cardiac condition/treatment, etc., to make plans and arrangements WELL IN ADVANCE with your private physician, your clinic, and/or your family for treatment during an emergent event or evacuation. Regular evacuation shelters are not equipped to handle evacuees who require these special medical needs.”
Any Plaquemines Parish resident who is totally bed bound or on hospice will require assistance during an evacuation is urged to contact us NOW to pre-register.
