***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
BOIL WATER ADVISORY
Plaquemines Parish has experienced problems with our water supply system. There was a break in the 20″ main water line in the Jesuit Bend area.
The water produced by our supply system is of questionable microbiological quality because of the break in the water line. As a precaution, the Plaquemines Parish Water System is issuing a BOIL WATER ADVISORY effective immediately for all communities between the Cedar Grove Water Tower and the West Pointe-ala-Hache Water Plant.
This BOIL WATER ADVISORY is to remain in effect until it is rescinded by the Water System. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods.
Please remember to boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
The Plaquemines Parish Water System will rescind the Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water supply system have shown our water to be safe.
