Donations for Victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico
Belle Chasse—Plaquemines Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced today that it is in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, will be collecting donations for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Patrick A. Harvey, Director of OHSEP said the primary need at this time is for baby care items, specifically for infants and toddlers, and personal hygiene products for women. The items that are desperately needed at this time include donations of the following:
Diapers, powdered baby formula, new baby bottles with nipples and bottles with liners, baby wipes, diaper cream and feminine care products (Tampons, pads, napkins, panty liners). These are the ONLY items that will be accepted at this time.
Donations may be dropped off at the following locations within the Plaquemines Parish:
Belle Chasse YMCA 8101 Hwy 23 Belle Chasse
Port Sulphur YMCA 378 Civic Drive Port Sulphur
Buras YMCA 36342 Hwy 11 Buras
Bethlehem Baptist Church 111 Bethlehem Lane Braithwaite
The deadline for donations to be delivered to the collection sites is Tuesday morning, Oct. 10. The Louisiana Army National Guard will make the first pickup of the donated items on Wednesday the 4th and the final pickup will be on the 11th.
