PLAQUEMINES PARISH BRACES FOR SEVERE WEATHER
Plaquemines Parish, LA – The National Weather Service reports the Parish is at an Enhanced Risk of Severe Thunderstorms during this weather event. This system could produce up anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain in some areas along with hail. The area is under a Flash Flood Watch as well.
Drainage pump stations in Plaquemines Parish are staffed, and parish crews are available to assist in any problems that may arise.
Citizens are asked to do their part in the reduction of street flooding by clearing debris from drains around their homes.
While on local highways, please drive with caution. There are already reports of hail in the Jesuit Bend area. Heavy rainfall from strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to produce storm total accumulations generally between 3 and 5 inches through early tomorrow morning. We encourage you to monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action in the event of a Flash Flood Warning.
